One thing that new traders can easily fall victim too is buying up lots of different types of coins and tokens. With so many flying around, it can be a common mistake to follow the hype, ending up with hundreds of different wallets. All filled to the brim with different coins. How are you going to keep track of what you are currently holding? Even more importantly how are you going to know when will be a good time to sell or buy more?
A good solution that I have come across, is to use CryptoSheets, which is a very simple Google sheet script to track your favorite coins or tokens via Coinmarketcap's API. It provides you with a nice way to quickly have an overview of the price of any coins or tokens you are currently trading.
Today we are going to have a quick look at how you can set this up to track some of the tokens that are currently listed on Radex like AXP, TRX & ZRX.
Start by creating a new Google Sheet spreadsheet, by clicking on the big green plus sign:
Be sure to give your spreadsheet a memorable name
Using the Add Sheet + symbol at the bottom left of your spreadsheet, make one new sheet called Rates.
Now, this is where the fun starts! Navigate to Tools and select the Script Editor option from the drop-down bar. This will open up a new tab, where you need to save the CryptoSheet script in. Be sure to name your script something that you will remember it by!
Delete the default contents in the script, copy everything in scripteditor.js and paste it into your blank script panel.
Now we need to set up which coins we would like to keep track of, locate the section in your script titled myCoins. I am interested in what we can trade on Radex so I have added there, aXpire, Tronix & ZRX but you can set up your portfolio however you want. All you need to do is check the coins id on Coinmarketcap’s API list.
The next step we need to take is to add triggers to our sheet, this will allow your spreadsheet to automatically update and show the correct values. You can do this by clicking on the little stopwatch icon:
This will open up a pop-up, currently, you will not have any triggers set up. So click to add one now. I recommend you set it up to update every hour and also when you open the spreadsheet, so it should look like this:
At this point depending on your google account settings, you may need to authorize the script to access the spreadsheet. This is a straightforward process of just clicking “Yes” a few times.
You can try running the script manually by clicking Run then Run Function and onOpen. If you set everything up correctly, you should see everything auto-populate into your Rates sheet.
We are done! Like I said, very quick & very easy method to get your tokens into a google spreadsheet for you. With all the data at your fingertips, what should you do with it?
And just because I love you so much, here is a pro-tip, why not add in some conditional formatting so you are alerted when a coin goes over a certain price? Let's say we want to hold our AXP until the price hits 5000 satoshis to make a profit?
Go into the Price BTC column and right click on the AXP current price, then select conditional formatting.
Set it up as per the image below and the moment it hits 5000 satoshis, the box will be colored green.
This way you have an indication of when you should start selling! No need to stress out looking at charts. All you have to remember is that when it goes green then that is when you can start making a profit. Remember, sometimes the simplest way to trade is just to stick to your pre-planned strategy & not to deviate.
